Firmware update: Synology DSM 6.0.2 build 8451.9

Spread the love

Synology has released a ninth update for Disk Station Manager version 6.0.2. DSM is the management software that runs on several of the company’s NAS products. The Disk, Cube and Rack Stations offer more than just extra storage space. For example, backups of all clients on the network can be made and files can be downloaded via http, ftp, bittorrent, usenet and emule, so that, for example, energy-hungry PCs can switch off at night while the download just comes in. In addition, audio and video files can be streamed over the network via the built-in iTunes server, a dynamic website can be hosted using PHP and MySQL and the device can act as a print server.

To be able to install version 6.0, at least version 5.2 must be present. Furthermore, it is only suitable for the NAS models whose type number ends with 11 or higher. For the other conditions and the different downloads, look at this page. In version 6.0 we find improvements in Cloud, Note, Photo and Video Station, there is a collaboration drive for spreadsheets, the possibilities for backing up and restoring are improved and the NAS can be equipped with a certificate from Let’s. Encrypt can now be accessed via a secure connection. Also, DSM is now fully 64-bit and therefore performance improvements can be observed. In addition, there are several new features for the high-performance models, such as support for the btrfsfile system, a comprehensive webmail client and email server, a Load Balancer, a Document Viewer, and Docker support has also been improved. In this update, which is not yet offered everywhere via the auto-update, some stability improvements have been made and the security problem in PHPMailer has been fixed.

Fixed Issues

  • Enhanced the stability of Btrfs file system after an abnormal shutdown.
  • Enhanced the stability of iSCSI service.
  • Enhanced system stability when connecting via the SMB protocol.
  • Enhanced the stability of Synology E10G15-F1.
  • Fixed a security vulnerability regarding PHPMailer (CVE-2017-5223). Upgrading Photo Station to version 6.6.3 or above is required.

Important Note

  • The update is expected to be available for all regions within the next few days, although the time of release in each region may vary slightly.
  • This update will restart your Synology NAS.
