Facebook to lower Oculus Rift price worldwide

Facebook will lower the price of the VR headset Oculus Rift in combination with the Touch controllers worldwide. The price in the US has already dropped by $50, while in the Benelux it has remained the same.

The permanent price reduction will take place in the coming week, UploadVR reports. The price in the US has dropped from $399 to $349. That in the Benelux is still at 449 euros, but it will go down in the coming week. Presumably there will be between 40 and 50 euros, but the company has not made any statements about this.

It is not the first time that the price of the VR headset has fallen. That happened before. The Rift has been for sale in the Benelux for 2.5 years. There are rumors that a successor is coming this year, but Facebook has not said anything about it yet. Competitor HTC announced new models at CES: the Vive Cosmos and Vive Pro Eye.
