Facebook has started a trial of game streaming in the United States. Users can stream games normally playable on smartphones for free, but the test is limited to a few states in the US.

Facebook says it wants to start streaming games with relatively simple graphics, which do not depend on latency, in order to provide a good experience. The feature is called Instant Games and for the time being will only launch on Android and not iOS. Apple does not allow game streaming on its platform, because it says it wants to approve all games in advance.

The test begins with a number of games, including Asphalt 9: Legends from Gameloft, Mobile Legends: Adventure from Moonton, PGA TOUR Golf Shootout from Concrete Software, Inc. and Solitaire: Arthur’s Tale from Qublix Games.

The service is free of charge for users, but it does contain advertisements. The test will run in some US states and should later be available across the US. It is not yet clear whether and when Instant Games will become available in the Benelux.
