Smart home manufacturer Eve Systems introduces its Play receiver. This allows users to provide their existing speakers, amplifiers or soundbars with Apple AirPlay 2 and HomeKit support.

Eve Systems announced the Play during the IFA fair in Berlin. It will be a small, square media player that users can connect their existing audio equipment to. The receiver has both analog and digital outputs at the back, in the form of RCA connections, a Toslink connection and a Coaxial connection. The device also has a built-in Texas Instruments PCM5122A-dac.

The Play has an Ethernet port and WiFi support on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequency bands. Connected speakers and amplifiers can therefore be controlled with an iPhone or iPad via AirPlay 2 and HomeKit. This also makes it possible to use these speakers in multi-room setups with other smart speakers with AirPlay 2 support, such as Apple HomePods or Sonos speakers. Users can manually adjust the latency between the different speakers in the accompanying app, the manufacturer reports. The Eve Play will be released on November 14 for 149.95 euros.
