Elden Ring has sold twenty million copies
Since the release of Elden Ring at the end of February last year, more than twenty million copies of the Soulsborne-style action RPG have been sold worldwide. This milestone has been achieved in just one year.
Bandai Namco and FromSoftware report that the game has been sold more than twenty million times, but do not provide an exact sales figure. Reaching this number in one year is no surprise given the popularity, the previous good sales figures and the positive reviews about the game. At the end of last year, Elden Ring won the Game of the Year award, beating God of War Ragnarök and Horizon Forbidden West.
Elden Ring sold very quickly immediately after its release on February 25, 2022. A few weeks after its release it was announced that the title had already sold twelve million copies and in August last year the counter stood at 16.6 million copies.
The action RPG Elden Ring was created by developer FromSoftware, known for titles such as Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. These games are referred to as the Soulsborne games and have similar elements such as a specific way of fighting, a mysterious world, developing the characters and achieving checkpoints. The games are notorious for their difficulty, although Elden Ring is seen as the more accessible game in the series.
