Rockfish Games will not release the Early Access version of Everspace 2 on Steam in September, but will wait until December to do so. The closed alpha and beta versions are also coming later than planned. The postponement is partly due to the cancellation of the GDC fair.

The studio had scheduled business appointments with game platforms and potential publishing partners at the Game Developer Conference. That event was supposed to start this week, but is canceled due to the new corona virus. Rockfish is also delaying the early release to avoid having two sci-fi shooters coming out at the same time. The studio is probably referring to the release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September. The company is concerned that the Early Access version of Everspace 2 would receive less attention as a result.

The alpha and beta versions of Everspace 2 will also be delayed until May and August, which is a month later than planned in both cases. The alpha version will be accessible to people who have pledged money on Kickstarter for the development of the game; the beta is open to everyone.

Whether the postponement of the early versions will affect the final release of the game is not yet known. Everspace 2 should be released at the end of 2021, but no concrete release date has yet been announced. The game was announced last year and is co-financed with crowdfunding. The developers raised half a million euros through Kickstarter.

Space shooter Everspace 2 has been in development for a few years now. It is an action game with RPG elements and the second part according to the makers has more loot and perks, better graphics and more spaceships to choose from. The first part came out in 2017.
