Dell has submitted a bid of $2.32 billion in a bid to acquire Quest Software. The takeover prey, which Dell has been looking for for some time, is active in the development of server and management tools for databases in particular.

Dell’s offer surpasses an earlier $2.2 billion bid from investment funds Insight Venture Partners and Vector Capital, Bloomberg reported. With that, Dell seems to be doing everything it can to get its hands on Quest Software. The company has been preying on the software company for some time and has been negotiating with Quest Software for some time.

Dell is increasingly looking to get rid of its image as a PC and server supplier, and is increasingly focusing on providing online services and cloud software. In April, the company acquired three companies in the enterprise cloud computing market in one week.

By also acquiring Quest Software, a company that has existed for 25 years, Dell also wants to provide more software tools for managing servers and databases. For example, Quest Software’s tools can be used to manage Oracle databases, while the company also supplies backup software.
