The PC version of Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition from 2012 will no longer have online support. Meanwhile, FromSoftware is trying to make the multiplayer features for the PC version Dark Souls: Remastered available again.

In a tweet the developer states that the Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition PC servers were unable to get online due to “system age”. We did manage to make the online features of the PC version of Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin available again. The servers of Dark Souls: Remastered and the base version of Dark Souls II are still being worked on.

The PC servers for Dark Souls, Dark Souls: Remastered, Dark Souls II, and Dark Souls III went offline in January. A hacker had found a remote code execution vulnerability in Dark Souls III and demonstrated it in someone else’s livestream. Due to the minor differences between the games’ multiplayer architectures, FromSoft took everything offline until a fix is ready. In August, multiplayer features for Dark Souls III became available again.
