Nothing, founded by OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei, wants to release wireless earphones this summer. Other products should be released later this year. Specifications and prices of the earphones are still unknown.

Pei tells Bloomberg that he wants to start with “simpler products, namely wireless earplugs.” The earphones should appear on the market this summer. Nothing is also working on a ‘whole range of smart, connected consumer electronics’, with more products to be released later this year. According to Pei, it’s not just about audio products. ‘Eventually’ these devices must be able to communicate with each other; so it doesn’t look like the first Nothing devices can communicate with each other yet.

In the interview, Pei also indicates that GV, Google’s venture capital department, has invested EUR 12.4 million in Nothing. Pei would not say how much share in Nothing GV received in return. In December last year, Nothing raised seven million dollars in investments.

The OnePlus co-founder revealed the name of Nothing a few weeks ago. Then the company said it wants to release the first products in the first half of this year. The company will probably release the first products around June. It’s not the first time Peis’ new company has been associated with wireless audio products; At the end of last year, there were also rumors that the company would release headphones.
