Business Google Chat users will soon be able to send messages to Slack and Teams users thanks to Mio integration. This interoperability is now available in beta and should be widely available to Workspace users early next year.

Google says it is working with Mio, a company that provides interoperability between business chat software. This company works including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack and Webex. Businesses must pay for Mio and users must install Mio’s software on their device before interoperability is possible. Such integrations between Slack and Chat were already possible, but now this interoperability is officially available.

The interoperability means that users can write a message in Slack, for example, and this message will also appear in Google Chat. Users can edit their texts, send gifs and start threads. The feature is intended for organizations that use different chat tools.

In addition to the Slack and Teams integrations, Chat according to 9to5Google a voice message feature, and coming according to The Verge a Huddle function for audio or video calling in chats. Slack has long had a Huddle feature for audio conversations. Google’s business chat software also gets a new design with a home screen with recent conversations, where starred conversations and mentions should also be easier to see. Google further announced that all Workspace users will be able to use Duet AI; in Chat they can use the artificial intelligence as autocorrect and to write responses.
