Apple is working on its ‘biggest overhaul’ of the iPad Pro since 2018, reports Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman. According to him, the iPad Pro will have an M3 SoC and an improved Magic Keyboard accessory with a larger trackpad. The tablet may also have an OLED screen.

Apple’s upcoming iPad Pro tablets will be codenamed J717, J718, J720 and J721, Gurman reports in his weekly Power On newsletter. The tablets should include a new Apple Silicon M3 SoC, which is expected to be produced on TSMC’s 3nm process. Furthermore, the Magic Keyboard, which is sold separately, is being improved, according to Gurman. The tablets should ‘look even more like a laptop’ with the keyboard accessory, according to sources from the well-known Apple insider. The keyboard should also have a larger trackpad.

Next year’s iPad Pro will be Apple’s first tablet with an OLED screen, according to Gurman. According to the journalist, Apple will again come with two models. The company would release an 11″ variant and a 13″ model. The tech giant currently offers 11″ and 12.9″ variants. Rumors have been going around for some time that Apple wants to equip its iPads with OLED screens. Gurman already reported in January that the next iPad Pro will have an OLED panel. This should, among other things, offer better color reproduction than the current iPad Pros, which have LCDs with mini LED backlight.

Apple is expected to announce the new iPad Pro tablets next year. Gurman expects the tablets to be released in the spring or early summer. Apple’s next presentation will take place on September 12, the journalist claims. The company will then likely announce its iPhone 15 series and new Apple Watch models.
