Developer DICE will release a 4.0 update for Battlefield 2042 next week. The company promises that the update will bring “more than 400 fixes and improvements”, including changes to the attachment system.

DICE hasn’t shared full patch notes for Update 4.0 yet, but a community manager from the company shares the most important changes on Twitter. This shows, among other things, that the attachments for weapons will be adjusted. The developer wants to ensure that all attachments feel unique and have an impact on equipment choices and gunplay.

The ‘ribbons’ that are awarded as a reward when performing certain actions are also updated. With that, players should be able to earn those ribbons more easily in game modes like Rush. The experience points that will be expanded for support actions and team play will also be improved, so that teamwork remains important within the game.

Some of the game’s specialists are also getting an update. Rao and Paik’s traits are updated, and Sundance gets improvements for her grenade belt. In total, the update should bring more than 400 fixes and improvements. DICE says the update will be released next week and presumably the patch notes with all the changes will be made public.

In addition to next week’s 4.0 update, DICE says it has plans for major improvements to the existing Battlefield 2042 playing fields. The first of these are expected to appear as part of Season One, which is set to launch this summer after a delay.
