ASUS releases cheaper version of Tinker Edge R-sbc with 3GB RAM

ASUS has released a cheaper version of the Tinker Edge R Pico-ITX single-board computer with 3GB of RAM and a Rockchip RK3399Pro AI processor. The sbc uses 2GB ram for the cpu and 1GB ram for the integrated npu. The sbc costs 203 euros.

The new, cheaper version of the Rasperry Pi competitor with integrated npu was noticed by CNX Software. The board is slightly cheaper than the more famous 6GB model, that costs 254 euros, and the 4GB model with 4GB Lpddr4 memory, which costs 224 euros. The sbc is equipped with the same Rockchip RK3399Pro-soc, but has 3GB memory, of which 2GB Lpddr4 memory for the cpu and 1GB Lpddr3 memory for the npu.

The SBC features 16GB of eMMC flash memory, an HDMI port and DisplayPort over USB-C, two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, a USB 3.1 Type-C port, and two 4-lane MIPI DSI connectors. The sbc is also equipped with an audio jack, gigabit Ethernet port, M.2 module with Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0. In addition, there is room for a nano-SIM and 40-pin GPIO header. The SBC has a Pico-ITX form factor and measures 10cm by 7.2cm. The Tinker Edge R comes with both Android 9 and Debian 10 images.
