Apple has the update to version 3.1.1. retired from its watch operating system watchOS. Several users reported that they saw a red exclamation mark after the installation and that the watch no longer started even after a reset.

Mashable writes that it has confirmation from Apple that it has withdrawn the update. According to the company, “a small number of users are experiencing issues after the update has been implemented, which has led to it being withdrawn as a precaution.” It is unclear what exactly is causing the problems.

The site MacRumors previously reported that Monday’s update caused some Apple Watch 2 users to see a red exclamation mark telling them to go to a support URL. However, the instructions described there, namely resetting the watch, did not solve the problems.

Therefore, affected users should take their device to an Apple Store, the site said. The update to version 3.1.1. included several bug fixes for Messages, Maps and other apps, and was released for all Watch models. It is not clear if and when Apple plans to re-release the update.
