Apple to launch three variants of new iPhone

According to the Chinese newspaper China Times, Apple will release three models of a new iPhone. One model supports edge, the second 3g and the third will receive support for the Chinese version of 3g, the newspaper reports.

The China Times bases is seeking resources from the component suppliers for the new batch of iPhones, which are expected to be introduced in June at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference. According to previous rumors, the new iPhone will be able to record video, run on a 1.2GHz processor, have 32GB of onboard memory and support 802.11n WiFi.

According to the Chinese newspaper, the design of the new iPhones will not or hardly differ from the iPhone 3G. Parts have already been ordered for millions of copies of the new phone. The edge version of the iPhone could be a cheaper version for emerging markets, the 3g version would be intended for developed countries. An iPhone Nano would not come, despite earlier rumors about a smaller variant of the Apple smartphone. Rumors about a modified version for China have been circulating for some time.
