The Xbox Series X controller should soon be ready to play games on the iPhone and iPad. An upcoming software update will allow the use of the controller on Apple devices.

Apple didn’t make a big announcement about the news, but a company support page states that it is working with Microsoft on compatibility with Apple devices. This includes the iPhone and iPad, but also the iPod touch, Apple TV and Mac. Incidentally, no release date is mentioned for the necessary software update.

It’s no surprise that the two companies are working together on compatibility for the new Xbox controller with Apple products. Earlier, Apple and Microsoft already did. The support page mentions support with the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and the Xbox Adaptive Controller. There is also support for the PlayStation 4’s DualShock 4 controller.
