Within a 72-hour period, ten million players downloaded and played the free battle royale game Apex Legends. In those three days, there was a peak of one million concurrent players.

Vince Zampella, the CEO of Respawn Entertainment, announced the player count in a blog post. Shortly after the game’s release, he had already announced that within eight hours of the free game’s release, there were one million players.

With ten million players in its first three days, Apex Legends is growing faster than Fortnite at the time of release. that game reached in October 2017 the same number, which was about two weeks after Fortnite’s battle royale mode appeared.

Apex Legends has also been at the top of the list of most popular games for several days on game streaming platform Twitch. At the time of writing, the new game attracts 166,300 viewers, while 54,300 people watch Fortnite streams.

Apex Legends was created by Respawn Entertainment, the studio responsible for the Titanfall games. Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe, but without exosuits and large controllable titans. Players fight each other in teams of three and games are played with a total of sixty people.
