OnePlus has released the first beta of the Android 8.0 update for the OnePlus 5. The software still has to go through a test period, but the software can be tried out for all users of the smartphone. Previously, OnePlus did an open beta with the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

The OnePlus forum provides instructions for installing the software update with Android 8.0. The manufacturer points out that participating in the Open Beta program means that from now on only beta software updates will come in, and therefore no longer the regular updates. If you still want to receive the regular updates, you have to start again with a clean installation.

OnePlus hopes the beta program will allow users to comment on the update and report bugs to the forum. The Chinese manufacturer also has a survey about the ux and the ui of the software, in order to gather feedback.

Previously, OnePlus already had a beta program for the smartphones 3 and 3T. The manufacturer has now released the final versions, which means that the OnePlus 5 is slightly behind these two devices. For the OnePlus 5T, which came out earlier this month, there is no software update available yet.
