AMD has released Radeon Software Crimson Edition 15.12. According to AMD, this is the Windows-certified version of its previous update with a few additions, such as solving the higher power consumption in Windows 7.

Idle power consumption was increased on computers with Windows 7 when Radeon Settings were used. AMD says this has now been fixed. Also issues with checking for updates by older versions of the Crimson Edition should be resolved. Otherwise, the Crimson Edition 15.12 update is a Microsoft certified version of the previously released Crimson Edition 15.11.1. The new version is intended for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 or higher, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.

The previous update already fixed issues such as overheating due to fan settings issues. In Star Wars: Battlefront, the update should ensure that the snow no longer blinks and the sky rendering works well everywhere. Compass flashing in Fallout 4 has been fixed, but only on R9 390 series GPUs. Also in Just Cause 3 the update should make graphical improvements.

The complete update summary of the Radeon Crimson 15.12 driver software can be found on the AMD website. The driver can be downloaded from the download page.
