Acer releases its 49″-4k monitor with IPS panel and FreeSync support in the Benelux. The screen also has HDR support, but the maximum brightness is too low for a convincing HDR display. The 55″ variant is coming for the time being not to the Benelux.

According to the specified specifications, the panel of the Acer EB490QKbmiiipfx has a maximum brightness of 300cd/m2, which is not enough to qualify for a DisplayHDR rating, for example. Acer uses a 48.5″ IPS panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels and a contrast ratio of 1200:1.

Although the screen is comparable in size to a TV, it is a monitor with different connections such as HDMI 2.0, twice HDMI 1.4, displayport 1.2 and VGA. There are two speakers built into the screen and there are 3.5mm audio inputs and outputs. Furthermore, the 49″ monitor has AMD FreeSync support, although Acer does not mention the range. The panel has a refresh rate of up to 60Hz.

At the end of June, Acer announced 49″ and 55″ monitors in Japan, but at the time the screens did not appear to be released in other parts of the world. Acer explains to Hardware.info that the 49″ variant will in any case be released in the Benelux and stores also offer it for prices from 699 euros. The suggested retail price is slightly higher at 749 euros. The larger 55″ model comes here only on the market if there is a demand for it, according to Acer. The suggested retail price would then be 899 euros.
