Developer 343 Industries has released a new patch for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This brings Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST support for co-op, where it doesn’t matter whether the game is played on the PC or on the Xbox consoles.

The co-op support specifically concerns the Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST campaigns. According to the developer This is an “experimental” feature that has been tested internally, but 343 Industries emphasizes that the team still needs further insights from players with different network setups. The developer asks players to report bugs and issues surrounding this feature on the Halo Waypoint Forums.

The current patch that makes this support for co-op possible for all platforms means a download of at most 21.5GB on Xbox consoles. Via the Microsoft Store or the Xbox app on the PC, a maximum of 26.5GB must be obtained and via Steam that is a maximum of 11.2GB.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection also gets a number of other changes and improvements through this patch, including the introduction of mod tools for Halo 3: ODST, a Campaign Customization option for Halo 4, and improvements to the custom game browser. That browser now covers all titles within the Master Chief Collection, and a Quick Match feature has also been added.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection includes six relatively older Halo games: Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4. Halo Infinite falls outside the box. This title came out in November last year and is the latest game in the game series from Microsoft. Infinite doesn’t have co-op yet; its addition was already postponed last year.
