A number of employees of the former company SlySoft have founded a new company: RedFox. The company continues to provide software such as AnyDVD, which can bypass protection on DVDs and Blu-rays.

The new forum.redfox.bz website contains SlySoft’s old forum, including download links for the old company’s programs, such as AnyDVD and CloneDVD. Furthermore, AnyDVD’s symbol, a fox, now wears a black mask. The extension of the new website suggests that the successor to SlySoft is registered in Belize in Central America. A large part of SlySoft’s activities will now continue under a new company name.

An update is also available for AnyDVD. It is referred to as an interim solution so that old customers can continue to use their existing AnyDVD license. The new version works with the new RedFox Online Protection Database, but will still use the SlySoft directories and the like. AnyDVD is widely used to make copies of DVDs and Blu-rays, and can also negate the DRM of the discs.

At the end of last month, the SlySoft website was taken offline. This was probably because licensing administrator AACS LA had urged the US government to add Antigua, the island where SlySoft was located, to a national checklist. The website closed its doors shortly after it became known and displayed a notice indicating that SlySoft had to shut down its operations due to recent regulatory requirements. The AACS LA has not yet commented on the software’s reintroduction.
