YouTube channel compares Google Pixel 7 samples to Pixel 6 smartphones

YouTube channel Unbox Therapy compared pre-production samples of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro against their respective predecessors. This shows, among other things, that the Pixel 7 is slightly smaller than its predecessor. The phones are expected later this year.

Unbox Therapy knew in their own words get your hands on ‘early developer versions’ of the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro. The phones didn’t run an OS, but did show a bootloader menu. It concerns telephones with the product revision ‘EVT1.1’. That stands for engineering verification test, which shows that these are indeed early samples of the Pixel 7 phones. The bootloader also shows that the Pixel 7 has 8GB Lpddr5 memory and 128GB storage. The Pro model has 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Furthermore, the videos show that the Pixel 7 is slightly smaller than its predecessor. Unbox Therapy shows that the Pixel 7 is about 73.2mm wide and weighs 195g, while the Pixel 6 is 74.9mm wide and weighs 205g. The YouTube channel does not show how long the Pixel 7 is, but it can be seen that this smartphone is shorter than the current Pixel 6. This is partly due to the narrower screen edges of the new device. It is not known how large the screen of the Pixel 7 will be, but according to previous information from well-known render maker OnLeaks, the screen will be between 6.2 “and 6.4″. The current Pixel 6 has a screen diagonal of 6.4”. The Pixel 7 Pro seems to be more similar in size to its predecessor from the previous generation.

Google already presented the Pixel 7 series earlier this year. The company then confirmed that the smartphones will get a new Google Tensor 2 soc, but shared few details. The phones are expected later this year. The official announcement of the smartphones will take place on October 8, according to previous rumors.
