Xiaomi will release its transparent OLED TV in the Benelux later this year. It is a 55″ TV with full HD resolution. There is also a regular 75″ LCD TV from the Chinese manufacturer in the low countries.

Xiaomi says nothing about when and at what price the TVs will be released in the Benelux. The transparent TV costs 50,000 yuan in China, which is currently about 6,500 euros. Due to transport costs, taxes and warranty terms, Xiaomi hardware is generally much more expensive in Europe than in China.

The manufacturer announced the transparent TV a few months ago. Xiaomi calls the transparent television the Mi TV Lux Oled Transparent Edition. When the TV is off, it looks like a glass plate with a thin edge. It is a 55″ model with a 10bit panel and a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The transparent Xiaomi TV is equipped with a MediaTek 9650-soc and has, according to Xiaomi, “twenty algorithms with optimizations for five common scenarios of use”. The glass plate is 5.7 mm thick and stands on a thick round foot.

Such translucent TVs have been around for much longer; OLED panels are, after all, transparent and are provided with a panel at the back, in which the other hardware is incorporated. With Xiaomi’s transparent TV, all the hardware is in the foot. LG, among others, already has a transparent TV in its business offer.

In addition, Xiaomi will release the Mi TV Q1 in the Benelux this year. That is a 75″ TV with 4k resolution, equipped with QLED screen, or an LCD with a quantum dot filter. Xiaomi already has a 55″ QLED TV in its range in some countries, the 75″ model is new.
