Valve adjusts wording of Team Fortress 2 blog post about update, promises less

Valve has slightly adjusted the wording in its blog post about the upcoming Team Fortress 2 update. It seems that the company wants to lower expectations for the update somewhat.

Valve has in the blog post replace the text ‘an update of update format’ with ‘an update of holiday format’. On certain holidays, such as Halloween, the game is temporarily updated with the theme of that holiday. Such updates are smaller than other major updates, such as Jungle Inferno and Meet Your Match. With this, Valve seems to want to clarify that the update will be smaller than interested players may now expect.

In addition, the summary of what players can expect ended in the previous version from the posting with ‘and who knows what else?’; That phrase can no longer be found in the current version of the blog post. The update therefore appears to consist of ‘items, levels, taunts, effects, war paints and fixes from the community’.

On Reddit, where a user informed readers of the change, is met with disappointment. This will be the first time in a long time that Valve has released an update for its multiplayer shooter from 2007. The last major update that wasn’t a recurring seasonal event was Jungle Inferno, back in 2017. Although the game has received little attention from its developer, it remains as popular as ever. Nearly 100,000 people are currently playing the game. This means that the game currently ranks tenth on the list of most played Steam games at the moment.
