Spotify plans to release its own hardware. This is evident from various vacancies of the streaming service. From the wording of the vacancy it can be concluded that several products will be available.

Website Musically discovered three job openings at Spotify related to hardware. One of the vacancies states that Spotify is on its way to making its first physical products and that the company is setting up an operational organization for production, delivery, sales and marketing.

Spotify is looking for a project manager, a senior project manager and an operations manager for its new hardware department. It is not yet clear what exactly Spotify’s plans are and what the hardware will look like. In a vacancy that Spotify had online in April last year, the company spoke about a category defining product, such as the Pebble Watch, Amazon Echo and Snap Spectacles.

It seems likely that Spotify will come with its own smart speaker, with which users can listen to the streaming service. Whether Spotify wants to use its own voice assistant for this, or opts for integration with, for example, Alexa or Google Assistant, is unknown.
