In Turkey, internet users have regained access to Twitter. The blockade was lifted by order of the Turkish judge. Twitter was blocked after Prime Minister Erdogan was accused of corruption in several posts.

This is according to Reuters on the basis of statements by the Turkish government. Twitter itself left know to be happy with the lifting of the blockade. By lifting the blockade, the Turkish government is responding to a demand from the Turkish Constitutional Court, which stated that the blockade violates freedom of expression.

Access to Twitter was already blocked in Turkey on March 21. When it turned out that users still flocked to the site via an alternative DNS server, the Turkish government took further measures. A judge had already ruled last week that blocking Twitter is illegal.

In the meantime, access to video site YouTube remains blocked, although it is possible that it will also be released again soon by order of the judge. Turkey has also blocked access to Tor’s website.
