Respawn Entertainment has an anti-cheat system for the Windows version of Titanfall, the shooter that hit the market a week ago. The system just isn’t on yet. According to the developer, that will happen ‘soon’.

The announcement comes from Jon Shiring, software engineer at Respawn Entertainment. On Twitter, he says: “We have an anti-cheat system in place, but it’s not enabled yet. It’s coming soon. This is important to us.” When “soon” is, Shiring doesn’t let go. He also doesn’t clarify why Respawn decided not to enable the anti-cheat software until a week after Titanfall’s release and not from launch.

@Peyman_std @DKo5 we have anti-cheat but it is not enabled yet – it will be soon. This is important to us.

Immediately after the sale of Titanfall, which launched in North America on March 11, players report that they had a strong suspicion that some opponents are using cheats like an aimbot. respawn responded even then via Twitter. The studio said it is tracking cheaters and that they will “be kicked out soon.”

Finding cheaters in Titanfall? So are we. We’re logging them now and they will be rooted out shortly.

Reddit users have found evidence in files from the Windows version of Titanfall that Respawn plans to use FairFight, the same anti-cheat system publisher Electronic Arts uses in Battlefield 4.

Respawn also hopes to soon have a solution for the VoIP problems that owners of the Xbox One version of the game are reporting. The studio is looking for a solution together with Microsoft. in addition hopes the studio to release an update that allows private matches to be played in the game. It is unknown when the update will be completed.

Update, March 18, 11:55 AM: Respawn has now started banning players. The studio announces this via Twitter.

Curious about anti-cheat/hackers? We have started kicking players and more will follow.
