Sony will release its wireless TV speaker SRS-LSR200 in the Benelux in September for 220 euros. The device works with a 2.3GHz connection, has three built-in speakers and a remote control that works with ‘the most famous TV brands’.

The Sony SRS-LSR200 is a wireless speaker designed for use with televisions. The speaker comes with a base station that can be connected to a television via a 3.5mm cable or optical cable. The connection between the base station and the speaker runs over the 2.3 GHz band. This makes a range of approximately thirty meters possible, according to Sony.

The speaker has three 1W speakers next to each other. The two outer speakers are for the left and right channels, the middle speaker is a voice speaker, according to Sony. This speaker must limit distortion and deliver a clear and clear voice. When all three speakers are active, the two outer speakers have a power of 0.5W and the inner speaker has a power of 1W.

Sony says the speaker lasts about thirteen hours on a battery charge and is fully charged in three hours on the base station. That base station is connected to the electricity grid via a USB-C cable. The speaker measures 182x77x87mm and weighs 630 grams. The base station has dimensions of 194x25x105mm.

According to Sony, users can use the speaker to keep up with the ‘commentary or plot’ of a television program, without having to sit close to the television. For example, according to Sony, people could follow a program while they are in the kitchen. The speaker is splash resistant according to the ipx2 standard.

The SRS-LSR200 includes Voice Zoom that ‘detects and brings out elements of human speech’. The function will have two modes, the first one will bring voices to the foreground, the second one will emphasize high frequencies. Voice Zoom can also be turned off by the user. Finally, on top of the speaker is a remote control that works with infrared and is compatible with TVs from Sony, Hitachi, LG, Loewe, Panasonic, Philips, Samsung, Sharp and Toshiba.
