Sony is also canceling its attendance at Mobile World Congress due to the outbreak of the new corona virus. The manufacturer will not be present on the show floor in Barcelona, but will make an announcement via a live stream.

Sony said in a statement on its website that the decision was made for the health of customers, partners, media and employees. Sony would be present on the exhibition floor with a booth and had also planned a press conference. Both have been cancelled, but the manufacturer will announce new products. This will be done via a live stream on YouTube on Monday morning, February 24 at half past eight.

Earlier, Amazon, LG, Ericsson and Nvidia already announced that they would skip the fair for the same reason. The Chinese manufacturers Xiaomi, Oppo, Huawei and Honor have not yet adjusted their plans. ZTE has indicated that it is limiting its presence by flying in fewer people. According to CNet, Samsung has made a similar decision.

Exhibition organizer GSMA reports that the exhibition will continue as usual, despite the cancellation of a number of parties. According to the organization, about 2800 exhibitors are coming to Barcelona and measures have been taken to limit risks. For example, there is a ‘no-handshake’ policy on the stock exchange. The Mobile World Congress will take place from February 24 to 27. Various manufacturers hold a press conference in the weekend before the fair.
