Sony will release two new headphones in March: the WH-CH720N and WH-CH520. The former will be over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation, which will cost 150 euros. The WH-CH520 is an on-ear model with a suggested retail price of 70 euros.

Sony provides the wireless WH-CH720N headphones with active noise cancellation. This uses two microphones in the earcups, the company reports in a press release. The headphones also get the same V1 chip for noise cancellation that is also used in the more expensive WH-1000XM5 headphones. The previous WH-CH710N did not have such a V1 chip, which according to the manufacturer helps suppress external noise.

Users can set the noise cancellation to twenty different levels using the accompanying Sony Headphones Connect app. The same app has an equalizer to adjust the sound. According to Sony, the battery life is 35 hours in combination with noise cancellation. The headphones also support fast charging and, according to Sony, last up to an hour after a three-minute charge. The headphones weigh 192 grams.

The WH-CH520 will also be a lower positioned model with a more compact on-ear design. These headphones do not have active noise cancellation. Sony claims that these headphones have a battery life of up to 50 hours. This model weighs 147 grams and also supports fast charging, just like the WH-CH720N. According to Sony, the headphones can last an hour and a half on a three-minute charge.

Both headphones support Multipoint connections, which allows them to be connected to several devices at the same time. The headphones offer DSEE support for upscaling compressed music. However, no mention is made of support for codecs such as Sony’s own LDAC. Both headphones will be released in March, Sony reports. The WH-CH720N will be available in black, blue and white. In addition to the above color options, the WH-CH520 is also available in beige.
