Sonos will release a soundbar on June 7 that will be positioned under the Beam and Arc, according to The Verge. The new model would be smaller and cost $249. The tech site has seen photos and made renders based on them.

The soundbar will be model number S36 and codenamed Fury, writes The Verge. It is not yet clear under which name Sonos wants to market the model. According to the internal specifications that the tech site has seen, the cheaper soundbar will not receive Dolby Atmos support and no microphone for control via a voice assistant. The more expensive Sonos Beam and Arc have that.

The Verge writes that there may not be an HDMI connection. The soundbar would then only be able to be connected via an optical cable, with which a maximum of Dolby Digital Surround is possible. With other compatible Sonos speakers, the soundbar could be expanded to a 5.1 system.

With dimensions of 550x69x100mm, the new soundbar is smaller than the Sonos Beam and Arc and would have much fewer drivers. Sonos would also come with a vertical stand for the S36 and that would be intended to combine the soundbar with other models.

Sonos has not yet announced anything about the arrival of the S36 Fury. The manufacturer says to The Verge not to make any statements about rumors. The tech site previously revealed the arrival of the Sonos Roam, before the official release.
