Software Update: UBCD 3.3

Spread the love

The Ultimate Boot CD, or UBCD has been updated to version 3.3. This CD contains a collection of small and free diagnostic programs for, among other things, the motherboard, hard disk and file system. Normally these would be run from diskette, but this CD has everything on one handy CD. The basic version is packed about 90MB in size. In addition to this version, there is also a Full version that includes the ERT environment, a Knoppix-based Linux distribution. This version is packed about 155MB in size. I have been using Maxtor’s 4.09 to double- check other tests/drives. I’ve found it more useful than DFT, which also (as of 3.x) runs on other brands.”
  • Modified UBCD to use [F8] and [F9] to boot from HDD so that it is similar to the Windows boot option menu. Thanks to Scott Cooper for the suggestion.
  • Run a separate timeout.scn when main menu times out to allow for easier customization. Thanks to Scott Cooper for the suggestion.
