Open-Shell is a program that allows you to customize the appearance of Windows Explorer, the Start button and the Start Menu in Windows 7, 8 and 10. In Windows 8 or later, it can also add a classic start button and start menu. The program is a further development of Classic Shell, the original developer of which announced further development at the end of 2017 to stop. The source code then ended up as open source on GitHub, where the program is now known as Open-Shell. After a long series of development versions, a stable release has now been released with version number 4.4.190. The changelog for this release looks like this:
