NewsMan Pro version 2.0.0.2 has just been released. With this program, news can be read on Usenet and files can be downloaded. Some of the most notable features include support for multiple news servers, up to six simultaneous download connections, and the ability to set data limits per day, week, or month. Only the free version is available for download. It is limited to two simultaneous download connections and some other features are disabled as well. The changelog for this release shows the following changes:
New in this release:
- Fixed message list font color selection.
- Added auto-selection of the current color in the color editor.
- Fixed font size change to update the sample font when up/down arrows are used, or the spin controls are used. When manually entering a size value, the sample will be updated when tabbing to the next control.
- Added save/restore of last page viewed in the Settings panel.
- Fixed a critical bug introduced in 2.0.0.1 that prevented Newsman from saving attachments that contain invalid characters in the filename.

- Fixed Workgroups getting marked BOLD when new headers are retrieved but no new headers are available.
- Fixed Scheduled Tasks running immediately when newly created and the next scheduled time is in the future.
- Revamped font customization in the Settings panel. Added the ability to select any color for the fonts and view backgrounds.
- Added the ability to customize the NFO file display font.
- Added the ability to customize the message viewer background color.
- Added a “Restore Default” option to the color settings to reset the colors to match the Windows settings.
- Fixed a potential Thread Manager crash bug with attachment filenames that are invalid.
- Added recognition of B-News attachments. These attachments will be saved with a *.bn extension and must be decoded with the standalone Bommanews decoder.
- Enhanced internal error handler for failed header retrieval jobs to have Newsman attempt to recover automatically.
- Enhanced internal error handler for failed article retrieval jobs to have Newsman attempt to recover automatically.
- Increased the message limit prompt in Settings to 1,000,000 messages.
- Changed Automation Rules when both Queue and Move options are enabled for a rule. Incomplete messages will no longer be moved to allow them to become complete and eligible for auto-scanning upon subsequent headers retrievals.
- Added the ability to minimize Newsman when the “Shutdown when Idle” screen is running.
- Added the position of the image preview to the Layouts.
- Added the ability to manually enter newsgroups for a server.
- Added ability to limit the number of connections that can be used to retrieve headers for each server. This can be used to solve problems with news servers that are unable to handle multiple header retrieval jobs correctly.
- Fixed the “Skip on server sent bad data” setting. It was being ignored in the new download engine.
- Added the ability to reserve connections for downloading “small” articles.
- Modified header processing to mark headers that receive new parts as not having been scanned by an Automation Rule.
