Download NewsBin Pro 6.10 build 1267 RC 1

After six beta releases, the first release candidate of the next version of NewsBin Pro has now been released. Incidentally, this is no longer referred to as version 6.01, but as 6.10. NewsBin Pro is intended to retrieve files such as photos, movies and programs from usenet. These files can be downloaded in individual packets from one or more news servers and reassembled at the receiving end. Since version 6.00, the interface uses tabs and there is a cache to memory option that, if a machine has plenty of memory, reduces constant access to the hard drive. The following changes have been made in this release:

• Decided to change version from 6.01 to 6.10 because of the major changes since 6.00
• Fixed issue with autopar not counting all available par blocks in some cases.
• Made Background Update mode the default setting for header downloads.
• Cleanup work to ensure that the defaults on fresh install make sense.
• Fixed a crash bug in the RAR lib. Happened sometimes when checking for encrypted rar files.
• The download folder listed for groups wasn’t always correct. When a path isn’t set in the group and it set in the parent, the real path used is the parent path that gets inherited.
• When changes are set in the group properties, make sure the display is repainted
• Remove some double-command logging
• When click and dragging groups to another folder in the groups tab, the selection doesn’t move. For example if you move items 5-10, it will remain in poistions 5-10 after the move. Needs more work.
• Fixed issue where some JPG’s were combining together when they shouldn’t – fixed when using newer DB3 files.
• Added a status option to pull current download speed, data folder, download folder and queued size through the TCP Interface
• Added an option to restrict configuration changes over the TCP interface
• Fixed issue when assembling a master-splitter files, wasn’t pre-allocating the resulting file
• Optimizations for locating par blocks within a file.
• Made sure the filters revert to their purpose when set to “None”.
• Fixed issue in the Filters tab where if you enter then start doing things with the subject filter, it wasn’t refreshing properly.
• Fixed off-by-one error for the counter in the Logging tab
• Fixed issue in the Files list where the size of really large files was off.
• Fixed issue with Local search ignoring the age drop down when scanning.
• Autopar: Change over to faster DB access. Fixed a potential problem in DB access at the same time.
• Now saves the contents of the log file in the data folder “logfile.txt”. Now can see what was going on if Newsbin crashes.
