Download Linux Kernel 2.6.0 Test7

Spread the love

Linus Torvalds, the father of the Linux operating system, released the seventh test of version 2.6 of the Linux kernels yesterday. Some major improvements have been made again, mainly in the following areas:

  • s390 update
  • DVB update
  • NFS (v4 in particular) update
  • cpufreq updates
  • ACPI update

[break]The complete changelog is here here† Now that test7 is on the servers, the kernel-hackers team has decided to focus on fixing bugs and increasing stability, so that after one or two more test versions kernel 2.6.0 can be presented.[/break]The more interesting thing is that I and Andrew are trying to calm down development, and I do _not_ want to see patches that don’t fix a real and clear bug. In other words, the “cleanup and janitorial” stuff is on hold, and -test8 and then -test9 should be for _stability_ fixes only.[break]The source of the new kernel is here pick up.
