Lavasoft, the makers of the anti-spyware program Ad-aware, has released a new stand-alone tool called Aries Rootkit Remover. The purpose of this program is to remove Aries Rootkit developed by First4Internet and used by Sony. This rootkit has been in the news a lot and is used to hide DRM software on approximately 4.7 million audio CDs sold worldwide from such a fifty different artists. The Aries Rootkit Remover detects and, if present, removes all traces of this rootkit.
