The developers behind 7-Zip released a new alpha release of their open source archiving program some time ago. 7-Zip can handle a variety of compression formats, including zip, cab, rar, arj, lzh, chm, gzip, bzip2, z, tar, cpio, rpm, deb, and of course the proprietary 7z. Furthermore, the software is capable of opening iso files and Nsis installation packages. New in this release is the format of the language files for 7-Zip, which brings several advantages. It is now also possible to set up a viewer for the F3 key yourself.

what’s new:

• The format of language files was changed.
• Now it’s possible to specify viewer program for F3 key.
• Some bugs were fixed.
• New localization: Karakalpak.

New language files are smaller. And 7-Zip now faster detects default language after first installation.
