Software Update: µTorrent 1.6.1 build 489

Spread the love

After Ludvig Strigeus, developer of the BitTorrent client µTorrent, announced in December that he had sold his creation to Bram Cohen, the developer of the BitTorrent protocol, many people feared that this would mean the end of one of the most popular BT clients so far. Yesterday, however, a new version appeared for the first time since the acquisition, and among the visitors of the µTorrent forum, this one received with some skepticism. Bram Cohen works with the MPAA to at least keep illegal content from his website and because no source code is available, not everyone has the same confidence in it. The extent to which these suspicions are based on truth remains to be seen. The changelog of version 1.6.1 build 489 shows at least the following changes:

  • Added encryption box to speed guide

change:

  • Don’t check as many pieces at the same time.
  • Misc WebUI changes.
