Slack raises prices for business users. From September 1, business accounts will pay 8.25 euros per user per month instead of 7.50 euros. The free package also changes: it is no longer truncated after a number of messages, but after a certain period.
Prices for business users with a Pro subscription are going up up from 1 September. Users who already have an annual subscription can now renew it for the old price. The price increases from 7.50 euros per user per month to 8.25 euros per user per month. Administrators do get a discount with an annual subscription. From now on, this will cost 81 euros per user per year. Only the prices of the Pro subscriptions are increasing. The Business+ and Enterprise Grid plans will remain the same prices.
Slack says in an accompanying blog post that the price increase is the result of the large numbers of new features that have been added to the app in recent years. It is Slack’s first price increase since its inception in 2014.
The company is also ditching the free plan. That used to have a maximum limit of 10,000 messages and 5GB of attachments, but that limit is disappearing. Instead, there will be a time limit. All messages are kept for 90 days, regardless of how many messages users post. Slack says a large proportion of free users can store more messages that way than they used to.
