Samsung Display would like to use inkjet technology in the production of bezels for flexible screens. The South Korean company could thus reduce production costs for such displays and sell cheaper foldable smartphones.
According to The Elec Samsung traditionally uses Micro Dry Process Decoration from the South Korean company Segyung Hitech. With this process, the screen edges are cut from a separate sheet, after which the shapes can be glued behind the glass of a smartphone display. However, Samsung Display could replace this process with inkjet technology and thus save costs. According to The Elec, this production process also leads to cheaper foldable smartphones from the brand.
