Samsung seems to be working on its own night mode for smartphone camera

It seems that Samsung is developing a night mode for the camera app of its own smartphones. This mode would be similar to Google’s Night Sight mode for the camera app of Pixel 3 devices.

XDA Developers discovered in code of the latest beta version of the Galaxy Note 9’s One UI interface for Android Pie that Samsung is working on its own special night mode. It will probably be called Bright Night and should allow users to shoot clear images in dark conditions.

The code states that the user has to hold the phone steady to take an image with night mode. This Bright Night mode works by taking multiple photos which are then combined into one image. The flash is not used. This operation largely corresponds to similar night modes from Google, OnePlus and Huawei.

When this mode will come out is still unknown, but XDA Developers speculates that Bright Night will be introduced with the release of the new flagship, the Galaxy S10. This smartphone is expected to be announced at the end of February. It is possible that Samsung will later release this night mode on existing devices such as the Galaxy Note 9 and the S9; previously, for example, the manufacturer also brought the Super Slowmotion mode from the S9 to the S8, for example.
