Google would like to release the Pixel 3 Lite models next spring. That reports Android Police. The American provider Verizon Wireless would initially sell the phones, the site reports. An exact date and price are not yet known.

Android Police relies on a single source that claims to have knowledge of Google’s smartphone plans. In recent years, the site has often been well informed about unannounced products and services from the American search giant.

It is unknown whether Google will only release the phones in the US or whether they plan to launch them in other countries as well. The Lite versions seem to have a lower suggested retail price than the Pixel 3 and 3 XL that came out this fall and Android Police is betting that the price will be around $ 500. The Pixel 3 costs $799 in the US, the Pixel 3 XL $899.

There have been rumors about Google’s Lite models for months. Renders appeared a few weeks ago. A Russian site already posted photos. The phones would get a Snapdragon 670 and 710. The Lite phones would also have a 3.5mm jack, which Google has left out on the Pixel 3 models.

It would be the first time that Google makes midrange phones in its Pixel series. Some Nexus models did have a lower suggested retail price at release. For example, the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and 5X cost under 500 euros.
