Rumor: Chinese manufacturer LeEco will show smartphone with Snapdragon 823 this month
The Chinese manufacturer LeEco will present the first smartphone with Snapdragon 823 at the end of this month, according to a site that specializes in reporting on Chinese smartphones. Qualcomm hasn’t even confirmed the existence of the 823 yet.
The Snapdragon 823 is said to be a souped-up version of the 820 currently in devices such as the HTC 10, LG G5 and Xiaomi Mi 5. In addition, the soc supports 8GB lpddr4 memory in phones, GizmoChina writes. LeEco would like to present the phone at the Asian version of the telecom fair Mobile World Congress, which will take place in Shanghai from June 29.
It would not be surprising if LeEco would show the first device with Snapdragon 823, because the first smartphone with 820 that Qualcomm showed was also from that manufacturer. LeEco is the new name of the manufacturer formerly known as LeTV.
The Snapdragon 823 has previously been associated with the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, among others. Qualcomm sometimes presents socs well in advance, as with the Snapdragon 820, but sometimes the announcement of a soc is accompanied by that of the first devices to contain the soc , as happened with the Snapdragon 801 in early 2014.
