Sony is testing a new beta update for the PlayStation 5. According to the manufacturer, it improves, among other things, the sound of the speakers and microphone in the DualSense controller. The update also adds new features for the PS5’s Share Screen function.
The beta is currently being tested by a number of invited users in ‘select countries’, Sony reports in a blog post. According to the console maker, the update increases the maximum volume of the DualSense and DualSense Edge speakers, among other things. The noise suppression of the microphones is also improved, making them more usable for voice chat.
Additionally, the update adds ‘interactions’ to the Share Screen feature, allowing users to livestream gameplay to friends. The new feature allows viewers to place a sort of cursor on the host’s screen to point out objects or areas for the player, for example. Viewers can also show emoji reactions on the host’s screen. The host can disable this feature in the Share Screen settings, although it is enabled by default.
Furthermore, it will be possible to adjust the brightness of the LEDs on the front of the console. That function can be found in the system settings, under ‘Beep and Light’. It is not yet known when the features will be available to all users.
