Pictures of TCL smartphone with sliding screen come online

TCL may be working on a smartphone where the screen width can be doubled by using a second screen that slides out and should connect fairly seamlessly to the original screen.

CNet has published renders of the phone and has asked for comment, but TCL has declined to comment. Based on the renders, it seems to be a regular smartphone with fairly normal dimensions. That changes when the sliding screen is conjured up; the phone actually turns into a tablet. When the sliding screen is hidden, the phone resembles the TCL 10 Pro smartphone, especially in view of the curved sides.

Exactly how the mechanism works is not clear, but based on the images there is a possibility that the extendable screen slides behind the other part, or around it. The right part also seems a bit thinner than the basic screen.

According to a source from CNet, the manufacturer had planned to show this phone during the Mobile World Congress, but this annual telecom show in Barcelona was recently canceled due to concerns about the spread of the coronavirus 2019-nCoV.
