OnePlus Two coming out next summer
OnePlus will release its second smartphone, named OnePlus Two, next summer. Two employees confirmed this during an ama on Reddit. Further details about the device are still unclear.
Like the current OnePlus One, the Two would also “probably” initially come out with the controversial system of invitations, say two employees of OnePlus during the ama on Reddit. They don’t say anything about the device, but because they say ‘still thinking’ about a smaller device, it can be concluded that the OnePlus Two is again about a large smartphone.
The current One will not just be for sale in 2014 and can only be ordered via invitations and from next month with pre-orders. OnePlus claims to have underestimated demand by a factor of 30 and says the organization was not prepared for the large numbers of smartphones it can now sell.
From the answers, it can be concluded that OnePlus is considering expanding into other product categories, especially wearables, but that it does not see anything in tablets for the time being, because it does not think it can make better tablets than those from Google’s own Nexus line.
The Chinese manufacturer affiliated with Oppo released its first smartphone with the One this summer. The device with CyanogenMod software and a 5.5″ screen received a lot of praise in reviews, but it was only available to buy for the first month. People traded those invite codes online.
