New details and prices of Intel’s NUC 11 Extreme have surfaced online, the mini PC that Intel released a teaser for earlier this year. The starting price of the version with Intel Core i5 is 1100 euros. Users can place a video card in the NUC themselves.
There will be three models of the NUC 11 Extreme Kit, codenamed Extreme Beast, with Core i5-11400H, Core i7-11700B and Core i9-11900KB. The three processors are Tiger Lake chips, but it is striking that the Core i5 is a mobile hexacore with a TDP of 45W, while the Core i7 and i9 are desktop octacores with a TDP of 65W.
The processors are part of the NUC Compute Element, a PCIe plug-in card that also contains RAM, storage and chipset. The basic configuration offers twice 4GB of RAM for a total of 8GB and an M.2 NVMe SSD of 256GB. The NUC Extreme Kit offers space to place a video card in addition to the Tiger Lake processor’s Xe GPU.

Intel itself has already put the details of the NUC11BTMi7 and the NUC11BTMi9 online. The NUC11BTMi5 can already be found on the Intel site, but the specifications are not there yet. The mini PCs are now also available at the Simply NUC web store. There it is mentioned that the version with Core i9 and i7 will be available in September, while the Core i5 version will have to wait until December. The starting prices of the NUC 11 Extreme versions with Core i9, Core i7 and Core i5 are 1360, 1190 and 1100 euros respectively. Those are the prices for configurations with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD storage, but without OS. Users also have to add the video card themselves. Simply NUC’s additional cost for adding a GeForce RTX 3060 TI, for example, is 670 euros.
The NUCs also have two SATA 600 ports and four M.2 slots, two of which are PCIe 4.0 x4 variants connected directly to the processors and two PCIe 3.0 x4 slots via the WM590 chipset. There is also a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface for plug-in cards. There are also two Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI 2.0b and eight USB 3.1 Gen 2 ports in addition to a 2.5 gigabit Ethernet connection and support for Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
Intel posted a teaser of the NUC 11 Extreme in May. It is not known when the official announcement will follow and the reviews will come online.
