The press release and product photos of the Nikon D850 appeared online a day before the official announcement. This means that almost all details about the 45.7-megapixel camera are known. It is not yet certain exactly what the device will cost.

The leaked press release was published by NikonRumors. The information shows that the data leaked earlier is correct. New information is that the device has a 4k movie function without a crop factor. That means that the entire sensor is used during filming. Many high-resolution cameras crop out the sensor when filming, because using the full resolution demands a lot from the sensor and image processor.

The camera shoots at 7fps, but with the optional battery grip, that goes up to 9fps, while maintaining continuous autofocus. The Nikon D850 has the same autofocus system as the Nikon D5; that device is intended for sports photography and has 153 focus points. It is possible to take photos in different raw formats. The largest format is 45.4 megapixels, but you can also choose 25.6 or 11.4 megapixels. Sample photos taken with the new camera have also appeared online. However, these are photos that have been reduced to a low resolution and therefore do not provide insight into the actual image quality.

The press release states that Nikon will announce the D850 on August 24. A price is not yet mentioned, but it will probably be announced at the official introduction. According to rumors, the new model costs 3800 euros and it will be on sale in mid-September. The predecessor of the device, the Nikon D810, currently costs about 3200 euros.
